According to The Blue Crew, Wharton High School's (in Wharton, Fl.) athletics website, former Elon University linebacker Joshua Jones has signed a free-agent contract with the National Football League's Jacksonville Jaguars.

A post on The Blue Crew's website read as follows:

Former Wharton Wildcats middle line backer and team captain Joshua Jones will sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jones confirmed the news through a phone call.

Jones led the 2007 Wildcats in tackles and Wharton held opponents to a state best 6 points per game average, including five shutouts.

During his 5-year career at Elon University, Jones and the Phoenix become one of the Southern Conference's elite programs. His sophomore campaign was the most memorable when he and Elon made the FCS playoffs for the first time in school history.
