The challenge for many student athletes is fulfilling their responsibilities as students following long, exhausting days spent in the gym. What is not often shown on game day, when players suit up in their maroon and gold apparel, is the work that they put forward in the classroom.

Phoenix fall to Tribe in 5 OT thriller

The Elon University Phoenix fell to the College of William and Mary 31-29 in five rounds of overtime, the longest the Phoenix have played in its history. The loss comes after a total of three missed field goals for the Phoenix, and seven missed field goals for the Tribe.

PREVIEW: Elon hosts the College of William and Mary for Homecoming

The Elon University football team has not found the same success this season as they did last year. Despite that, the team sits at .500 (4-4) and has a winning record in the Colonial Athletic Association. The Phoenix will look to improve its marks when the College of William and Mary comes into town for homecoming weekend on Nov. 2.

Elon volleyball's Gower is small, but mighty

This year, Elon University’s volleyball team features a squad with an average height of 5 feet 11 inches. The tallest player is 6 feet 3 inches, and the shortest player comes in almost a full foot shorter; freshman defensive specialist Jordan Gower is just 5 feet 4 inches tall.

Elon men's soccer stuns Duke at home

Upsets were in the air amidst a raucous crowd at Rudd Field, as the ACC powerhouse the Duke University Blue Devils (6-5-1) (2-3-0 ACC) traveled to Elon (5-7-1) (0-5-0 CAA) to take on the Phoenix on Tuesday night. The Phoenix downed the Blue Devils 3-2 in exciting fashion.

Volleyball falls to top-ranked Towson

The Elon Phoenix (9-11, 4-3 CAA) fell to the Towson Tigers (16-2, 6-0 CAA) in four sets 3-1 on Sunday afternoon in Schar Center. The Phoenix have now dropped three of their last four conference matches.

Elon volleyball downs Delaware

Elon volleyball (8-10, 4-2 CAA) defeated the Delaware Blue Hens (11-4, 3-2 CAA) in Schar Center on Oct. 13 in five sets after a competitive back and forth game. This was a bounce-back conference win for Elon volleyball after losing their past two previous conference games.
