Elon University’s economic impact study found that the university generates $695 million in annual economic impact. According to a press release from the university, Elon has sustained more than 7,400 jobs while producing $34.6 million in tax revenue in the state of North Carolina.

Vaccine exemptions forms rolled into Dean of Students Jana Lynn Patterson’s email when the university declared a COVID-19 vaccine mandate for all students. While the university reached 96% of its undergraduate students fully vaccinated, only 307 vaccine exemptions were approved. There’s an additional number that Elon has reached: zero student disenrollments after the vaccine requirement.

Janet Williams joined Elon’s faculty in April to serve as the vice president for finance and administration. Her role at the university includes having an executive oversight for a broad range of financial, business, and support operations and planning. Williams said she plans to utilize her first full-year at Elon to build relationships with stakeholders across campus and the community.

According to Director of New Student Programs Emily Krechel, over 200 applications were submitted this year. There are about 130 orientation leaders. Over 100 Elon University seniors filled Rhodes stadium on May 19 in one of the first opportunities the class of 2021 had to gather in person. From playing cornhole to dancing under the fireworks, the Senior Celebration marked the last initiative of Elon’s Senior Class Giving Committee and the final event before undergraduate commencement on May 21.
