As Elon University students left campus for spring break this week, some students stayed back due to a full-time work schedule. Many of those students include seniors in Elon’s Teacher Education Program, requiring the education majors to align their schedules with a K-12 school system calendar.

Charis Tucker said she will always remember every trip and vacation she’s ever been on. The creator and host of the study abroad podcast, STAMPED, considers herself a Black traveler and explorer. But when she learned that other Black and African American individuals weren’t exposed to the same experiences, she knew there was a part of history that needed to be addressed.

The Rev. Gregory Drumwright was found not guilty Feb. 6 on one charge of resisting a public officer during the Oct. 31, 2020, “I Am Change” march to the polls in Graham. According to the verdict, the Greensboro pastor has been found not guilty of three charges related to the rally.

Only seven out of 52 goals have been accomplished in the Elon University Global Education Center’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategic Plan. Created in 2019, the master plan was set to be achieved between 2020 and 2025, with goals curated by members across the GEC to serve Elon students and their global studies from a DEI standpoint.

Young adulthood — the age range between 18 and 25 years old — is when cardiovascular health issues can start to arise. When it occurs and how to deal with it has been a study the American Heart Association has tried to analyze for decades. But when it comes to finding ways to prevent heart disease or other cardiovascular health issues, those questions are starting to be answered by Elon University’s Health E Start study.

Galyna Karpenski has always had a soft spot for animals — from rescuing them to providing rehabilitation through her nonprofit organization, Fine Whines and Lickers. She and her husband, Peter Karpenski, founded the nonprofit in 2016, with the shelter’s mission of rescuing “hard to adopt” dogs from local animal shelters in Caswell County and the surrounding area.

Residents at The Village at Brookwood have spent the past few weeks clearing their closets and filling suitcases. The Burlington retirement community has been collecting items to add to North Carolina’s aid and donations to Ukraine and neighboring European countries.
