Elon annexation of Gibsonville approved

The Elon Board of Aldermen passed the ordinance which approved the annexation agreement between the town of Elon and town of Gibsonville 3-0. The board also approved the asset purchase agreement for land on Amick Road referred to as the "Travis Creek Pump Station," 3-0.

Baltutis wins third term as mayor of Burlington

Ian Baltutis — an Elon University alumnus— won the mayoral election for the city of Burlington. With all precincts reporting Baltutis has won with 66.54% of the votes according to the unofficial election results from the North Carolina State Board of Elections.
