Elon University Homecoming 2022 kicked off with trick or treat in the Moseley Center today and will conclude with crowning Homecoming Royalty during the Homecoming football game. Read below for the full schedule of events.
College Coffee this week will take place in the Moseley Center rather than Phi Beta Kappa Commons, according to an email to students from Vice President for Student Life Jon Dooley.
Beginning in June 2023, Elon University will be home to an additional residence hall in East Neighborhood. The new building will have 90 beds as well as a common area for students located at the front of the building. The building plans, presented by Elon University architect Brad Moore and town of Elon Planning Director Lori Oakley, were approved by the town of Elon council Oct. 24.

Seneca Rogers ran for the Alamance-Burlington School System Board of Education in 2020, when the world was experiencing the height of the global pandemic, and much of his campaign took place on Zoom. Two years later, Rogers is back, and he said he is ready for round two.
Construction plans for a new Elon University residence hall were presented to Elon Town Council at the regular meeting on Oct. 11. The council also approved a budgetary amendment and heard a presentation from the town of Elon Fire Chief Landon Massey.

The town of Elon council voted unanimously to create a social district in downtown Elon during the Sep. 26 work session meeting. The council also heard from members of the Elon community, including members of the group Alamance Peace Action, in support of the town adopting a resolution to support the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. The town did not vote on the resolution and tabled further discussion, including amending the resolution to be more Elon specific and including action steps, until the October meeting.

When she found herself sitting in a hospital supporting her loved ones through chemotherapy treatment, Gibsonville resident and small business owner Tina Mardis said she needed something to keep her mind and hands busy. A lifelong crafter, Mardis decided not to turn to books or games, but to her love of crafting, to help her through the dark moments.

William “Buster” Butler, an Elon alumnus, former staff member and recipient of Elon University’s highest honor, the Elon Medallion, died at age 98 on Aug. 4. Butler received the Elon Medallion in 1996 from then-President Fred Young for his employee service to Elon.
