Elon women’s lacrosse, now 9-4, is out of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament after losing to the No. 5 seed Towson University Tigers, now 11-7, in the quarterfinals. The Phoenix, seeded No. 4, fell behind early and were unable to mount a rally against the Tigers, who controlled the game throughout.

With the regular season now complete, the Elon women’s lacrosse team is turning its attention to this week’s Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Lacrosse tournament. The Phoenix are the No. 4 seed in the CAA Tournament and will play No. 5 seed Towson University on Wednesday, May 5 in the quarterfinals.

Redshirt junior softball player McKenzie Weber committed to Elon University and its softball team before stepping foot on Elon’s campus. She came as a transfer without ever seeing the school, touring or feeling out the campus environment, and her first in-person tour of the school came during orientation in August 2020.

Elon Law student Ayowunmi Kuforiji only brought two weeks’ worth of clothes when she returned home to Dover, Delaware for spring break in March 2020. She packed light for the trip, expecting to relax briefly with family and return to Greensboro to complete the final trimester of her first year.

Elon University announced they will host an in-person ceremony for the class of 2021 with a limited number of guests being allowed to attend. Students will receive at least two guest tickets, according to an email from Jeff Stein, chair of the Ready & Resilient Committee. Commencement is set for Friday, May 21.

Chloe Yoon has been elected as executive vice president of Elon University’s Student Government Association. Yoon, a junior secondary English education major, won 67% of the vote in the runoff election. 975 votes were cast in the election.

As seniors begin their last semester at Elon University, there is still some uncertainty regarding whether there will be an in-person commencement ceremony this spring for the class of 2021. Though a final decision has still not been made, there is now more clarity on what the possibilities for this spring are.

No matter how hard he tried, David Morrow, a 2010 graduate of Elon Law, could never fool George Johnson when it came to law. On many occasions before class, Morrow read off the beginning of a passage from the U.S. Constitution to see if he could stump him. Johnson always stopped him short and finished reciting the passage with immaculate precision.

Pi Sigma Alpha, the national political science honor society for college students, has chosen Elon University to host its Undergraduate Journal of Politics, a national journal of undergraduate research in political science and government. For the next three years, the university’s political science department will edit and publish the journal, which releases both a spring and fall issue each year.
