As the men’s basketball team enters the 2022-23 season, a new era of Phoenix basketball is beginning. Nicknamed the “Billy Taylor Era” by Elon Athletics after new head coach Billy Taylor, the Phoenix is looking to have a successful season this year.

Junior Lotte Fox is a business fellow, member of Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity, Student Athlete Advisory Committee and most notably, on the women’s golf team. For the 2021-2022 school year, Fox was named the team’s “Most Valuable Player” at the Athletics Banquet in May. Fox had triumphed through a tough fall season, multiple tournaments and mental barriers, all which were recognized by head golf coach Chris Dockrill.

The sun is still rising when sophomore Lotte Fox prepares for golf practice. Stepping on grass that is filled with dew, Fox attends practice — five times a week and an optional one on the weekend. With school, sports and extracurricular activities, Fox said she doesn’t know how she balances it all.

The women’s track and field team is on a high after the team’s 17.5-point victory at the Colonial Athletic Association championship win this past weekend. The championship win, the Phoenix’s third of the past seven seasons, will now give some members of the team the opportunity to continue into the postseason.
