Yes I know, the following is a dumb statement. We all remember the North Carolina loss almost two weeks ago. (See, told you. Stating the obvious here.) Here’s the positive news though…No, I’m not going to talk about that one again. We’ve been there already; Zach and I were totally off on predictions and everything else leading up to the game for that matter. It was embarrassing for all parties involved. But that’s in the past! We’re done with that! However, there is a reason I bring up the score of 62-0.

It’s been a slow start to the 2012 season for the Elon women’s soccer team. After battling to a draw on opening night against the University of Cincinnati, the Phoenix have been victorious just once by tallying a win with a 4-0 defeat of Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Va. on Aug. 24. In five games total, Elon has notched five goals while allowing 15. Granted, the Phoenix has matched up against teams like North Carolina State University and sixth-ranked Duke University, but it’s still an average of three goals allowed per game, which will not bode well at any level of soccer.

North Carolina sophomore running back Giovani Bernard scored three touchdowns just 17 minutes and 44 seconds into the game, and even after Bernard left with soreness in his knee, the Tar Heels were well on their way to a rout.
