Federal judge gives delay before preliminary injunction to allow change in protest access

A federal judge is giving Alamance County officials and the city of Graham  “a short delay,” before a preliminary injunction to change access to the grounds of the Historic Courthouse in Graham if they so choose, according to an opinion written by the court. U.S. District Judge Catherine Eagles said in her opinion that banning protests from the grounds of the Historic Courthouse in Graham is likely a violation of First Amendment rights, according to the opinion.

Town of Elon Board of Aldermen pass budget, increase cost of town services with expected decrease in revenue

The Board of Aldermen unanimously passed an ordinance Tuesday which approves an $11.8 million budget outlining an increase in Elon residents’ sewer and water rates and a new $5 vehicle registration fee for the upcoming fiscal year, which begins on July 1.

Burlington police plan to launch new app

The Burlington Police Department adopted a software called Crime Stoppers. This allows people to call to give anonymous tips. Since then, community resource officer Bobby Davis said this has helped promote community relations.
