The world has survived yet another “apocalypse.” The media coverage and international drama over the supposedly fated day of Dec. 21, 2012 created anxiety and anticipation from many who believed the day would bring about the end of the world, but for most, it wound up being just another ordinary day. We’ve seen these glaring exaggerations or falsities in political ads, speeches or campaign representatives throughout history, well into modern day, and neither side appears to be exempt from this rule.

Bullying – it’s a term everyone is familiar with, and may have even experienced personally at some point in time. We’ve seen kids get shoved into lockers, mercilessly taunted or even isolated by peers because they seemed “different” or “abnormal.” There are dozens of ways a child, adolescent, teenager or even young adult can get bullied by his or her peers, but no matter what the bully prescription is, the effects of it can be drastic and tragic.

The morning was bright and crisp Saturday for the fourth annual Barbara Sullivan Race for Women’s Health 5k Race. The event, which has been sponsored by Elon University School of Law's Women’s Law Association since the organization was formed, was held at Northeast Park in Gibsonville and brought out 130 participants — the largest number of attendees since the race began in 2009.

For the past two years, the early childhood education program at Elon has been developing, but hasn't gotten off the ground until this semester. Many different departments and instructors were involved in the design and creation of the program, which offers both a major and a minor in early childhood education.
