Women's basketball hunts for rebound in home game

The Elon University women's basketball team will head into Southern Conference play on a streak the team didn't see coming: three loses in a row. "I don't think anyone anticipated that we were going to go 0-2 this week," junior guard Ali Ford.

Athletics continues change with addition of softball field

Since Dave Blank, director of athletics, took the reins, Elon University has hired new head coaches for half of its teams and built two new buildings, while four others facilities have been renovated. This was all in six years, and another new athletic site is on the way. "We're trying to get all the facilities as advanced as possible," Blank said.

Elon's Renaissance man: Bill Morningstar

When Bill Morningstar joined the Elon University basketball coaching staff in 1972, there was a caveat that doesn't exist today: The assistant basketball coach had to also coach golf. Morningstar had played basketball for the Fighting Christians from 1961-1964 and had returned to his alma mater to coach.

Women finish first, men take third place at Elon Invitational

With just two meets left before the Southern Conference championships, the Elon University women's cross country team got its first win ever on its home course in the Elon Invitational. This win is the second in a row for the women, and the importance of these wins in preparation for the SoCon is not lost on the runners, junior Emily Tryon said. "Every meet helps you work on our competitive edge," she said.

From the Editors' Desk: The Age of #SocialMedia

President Barack Obama made another media splash today with his Twitter “Town Hall Meeting”. Twitter users were encouraged to tweet a question to our nation’s president, simply by using the hashtag #AskObama. After a campaign to get him reelected that stormed the social media scene, Obama is changing the way the game is played yet again. Normally in a town hall meeting, questions are limited to those that can actually be there in person.
