In college, on call: Elon junior prepares to be birthing coach

At any moment — night or day —Bridget Riley could get a phone call. She could have to drop everything she is doing at that moment and meet one of her clients at the hospital, where she could remain for more than 24 hours. Riley is a junior human services major at Elon, and she is training to be a doula. “It was always my passion to work with pregnant women, with childbirth or parenting for infants,” she said.

Elon University collaborates on large-scale solar facility

Elon announced on April 22 that it will be collaborating with eight other universities and colleges to create a large-scale solar facility supported by a Power Purchase Agreement. The project will be located in Robards, Kentucky and will power roughly 24,000 homes each year. The site is set for construction in early 2025. Elon joined the project, which has been deemed “Sebree Solar Project II”, in hopes of reaching its goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2037. This goal is just one of many parts under Elon’s Sustainability Master Plan 2025.

Elon University student organization K-DNS embraces K-pop and community

There were bright smiles and laughter as members of Elon University’s K-pop student organization K-DNS headed into a Koury Center studio Sunday evening, chatting about their weekends. As soon as the music was on, they were in position, smiles still on their faces and ready to dance. K-DNS, which stands for K-pop Dancing ’n Singing, is an audition-based group that provides a space for students to hone skills and share their love of K-pop. It has three subgroups, the Dance, Vocal and Rap Units — as well as general members that are involved in many facets.
