Elon baseball alumni of new and old came to campus during the second annual Baseball Alumni Weekend from April 20 to 22. The gathering of old friends and teammates was complemented by tailgates, dinners, and cheering on the current squad as they swept the University of Hartford Hawks.
Though many call it gross, some call it the best place to live on Elon University’s campus. Nestled between the Duke building and Carolina residence hall, Smith Hall is the Historic Neighborhood dormitory that has a unique characteristic: it’s the only place on campus where only men can live.
Elon University welcomed 573 high school students for Fellows Weekend to complete the selection process of the six challenging fellowship programs offered at Elon. The finalists were selected by faculty committees and were invited to Elon to fully immerse themselves on campus.
Elon University sophomore Michael Lombard is not your everyday student athlete. He doesn't just count his caloric intake, watch his nutrition, keep track of his protein and lift heavy weights to stay in shape or play a sport, he is preparing to compete and show off his razor-cut physique in a World Natural Bodybuilding Federation (WNBF) competition in May.
Junior and basketball player Tyler Seibring said he was humbled to hear his article, “Just for the Record: The Chronicles of a Mid-Major Basketball Player,” reached so many people in the Elon University community and landed on the desk of none other than President Leo Lambert. Accumulating over 30 retweets and close to 100 likes on Twitter, the article gave readers the chance to briefly step into Seibring’s rather large shoes and learn more about his life as a semi-recognized athlete.
“We’ve got a couple good freshman in our lineup,” seven year veteran head coach Kathy Bocock said. “We are excited for them.” After a 49er run tied the game again, a Charlotte RBI double and a couple of wild pitches from Elon closing pitcher Kenna Quinn allowed two runners to score, the 49ers were able to put away the Phoenix by a 2-5 margin.
A familiar bearded face on Elon University's campus is stepping down at the beginning of next month. Adam Constantine '10, social media manager for Elon University, announced he has accepted a job as a social media specialist for Movement Mortgage, a home mortgage bank in Charlotte. He has been the social media manager at Elon since 2015.
After scoring on its opening drive and only four minutes into the game, No. 18 Elon football looked like nothing was going to stop them from cruising past the William & Mary Tribe.
