World Hijab Day in the Elon community

World Hijab Day is a day of celebrating for Muslim women by walking in their shoes for a day. Elon University is celebrating Hijab Day April 25. Students are invited to cover their heads with either a scarf or cap for the day.

College Republicans request more SGA funds than College Democrats

For the past two years, the SGA budget has granted College Republicans more money than College Democrats. In the 2016-2017 budget year, College Republicans requested $6,313 and received $3,250. Meanwhile, College Democrats requested $2,503 and received $2,100. College Republicans were allocated $3,500 and College Democrats $2,200 for the 2018-2019 budget year during the SGA meeting March 8.

A survey was conducted at Elon University in which 25 random students were asked if they knew who UK Prime Minister David Cameron was. Fourteen out of 25 students did not recognize Cameron’s name.  

Students begin returning to Park Place after displaced by mold, mildew

Students displaced from their Park Place apartments have started to move back in.  According to University Communications, eight of the 19 apartments impacted by the mold and mildew have been cleaned and approved for use, and by Sept. 30, all of the affected apartments will be ready to live in again.

Elon University’s Hispanic and Latinx community gathered Sept.15 in front of Lakeside patio to celebrate the Independence Day for five Central American countries: Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and El Salvador.
