Elon University softball splits doubleheader against UNC Wilmington

The Elon University softball team split a doubleheader against the University of North Carolina Wilmington Seahawks on Saturday afternoon, winning game one 6-1 and losing game two 2-1 at Hunt Softball Park. The team also hosted its annual alumni weekend with team alumni taking the field in their former position for the National Anthem.

Elon University lacrosse defeated by Hofstra University

In a battle for its first conference win of 2023, the Elon University lacrosse team fell short to Hofstra University, 17-12. A back-and-forth first quarter eventually became a Hofstra lead which the Pride held for the remainder of the afternoon. The Pride entered Rudd Field with a six-game losing streak, snapping it with a solid offensive performance.

Elon University football team works with Be The Match

This is the fifth annual drive Elon’s football team has helped with. Elon community members were also able to sign up via a QR-code to become a donor. Once signed up, participants swabbed their cheeks and submitted the samples. If a participant is selected as a match, they will receive further instructions on what to do next.

Elon University men’s tennis routs UNC Greensboro on Senior Day

The stands were packed to the brim at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center on Tuesday night as three seniors — Nicholas Condos, Nicholas Campbell and Luke Queiroz — were honored. The Elon University men’s tennis team displayed a dominant performance en route to a 6-1 Senior Day victory over the University of North Carolina Greensboro Spartans.

Elon University dance team places second in NDA championship

The Elon University dance team earned second place in the hip hop Division I category at the National Dance Alliance national championship. Earlier this week the team got third place in the pom Division I category. Elon placed second overall in the hip hop Division I category with a final performance score of 94.6286 falling six tenths of a point behind Utah Valley State University.

Elon University dance team earns third place in pom, qualifies for hip hop final

The Elon University dance team is looking to become back to back National Dance Alliance national champions in the Division I hip hop category. The team will head into tomorrow morning's finals session seeded first overall with a performance score of 94. Before the hip hop prelims session the team got third place overall in the pom Division I category. This is the second year in a row Elon has taken home third place in pom Division I.

Elon University hosts Special Olympics Alamance County Spring Games

Elon University hosted the 2023 Special Olympics Alamance County Spring Games for the first time since the pandemic, bringing together children with disabilities and making them all feel like winners. Elon sophomore Elizabeth Price is the special events coordinator for Elon volunteers and said the hometown version of the event opened her eyes. She said she was excited to be able to be a big part of the Special Olympics that Elon hosts as soon as she got here.

Elon University baseball upsets No. 2 Wake Forest in thriller

Latham Park was filled under the lights on Tuesday as the Elon University baseball team delivered a 5-3 upset victory against the No. 2 Wake Forest University Demon Deacons. This victory was the highest ranked win for the Phoenix since it defeated No. 1 Clemson in 2002. It also marked the highest ranked opponent Elon has ever beaten at home, and the program’s first home victory against Wake Forest since 2012.

Elon University Dance Team looking to ‘stay present’ going into 2023 Nationals competition

On April 6 and 7, the Elon University Dance Team will compete at the national level in Daytona Beach, Florida in the first round of the National Dance Alliance College National Championship. Prior to departing for nationals, the team is hosting a send-off performance where it will showcase both routines it will be competing. It is set to begin at 7 p.m. in Schar Center on April 3.

Student production of ‘Pippin’ has ‘Magic to Do’ for three sold-out audiences at Elon University

After learning about Renegade Productions through a friend, Elon University freshman Jackson Bennett signed up for the student organization’s newsletter last fall. Now, on April 19 and 20, the Cinema and Television Arts major will be performing as the title role in Renegade’s spring musical, “Pippin.” While the show’s three performances are sold-out, Renegade Productions is doing a free ticket lottery that anyone can enter. The lottery winner will be drawn at 5 p.m. on April 18 and information about how to enter is on the club’s Instagram page, @elonrenegade. Performances are at 8:30 p.m. April 19 and 20 and there is a 3 p.m. performance on April 20.

OPINION: Elon’s Mobile Order system isn’t great — here’s how

When a student orders food on Elon Dining’s mobile app from any of the nine on-campus vendors, they might notice a number indicating how long it would take for it to be ready. These can range from four minutes to over 250 minutes.  “The only thing is the time doesn’t really match up,” freshman Josie Schultz said. “Sometimes it says 36 minutes, when it’s actually 12.”  Near the mobile order pickup at Village Juice, sophomore Delaney Dickinson picked up her order.
