Men's soccer opens season with draw against Northeastern

After going winless in the preseason against two top programs in the country in the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of South Carolina, the Elon University men’s soccer team earned a 1-1 draw with Northeastern University in both teams’ first game of the Duke Classic in Durham Friday night. Northeastern wasted little time getting on the board in the 9th minute on junior Donovan Fayd’Herbe de Maudave’s long-distance strike.

Going for more: Elon men's soccer looks to improve on stellar 2012 with challenging 2013

Looking to exit the Southern Conference with a third straight conference tournament championship and a second straight regular season title, the Elon University men’s soccer team announced its 2013 schedule Tuesday. Men's soccer bows out of NCAA Tournament early against Coastal Carolina

After arguably the greatest season is school history, the Elon University men’s soccer team fell 3-0 to Coastal Carolina University, ending their season and leaving many to ask where a performance like that had come from. Men's soccer outlasts Davidson in first round of SoCon Tournament, face Georgia Southern Thursday

It wasn’t easy, but the Elon University men’s soccer team escaped Rudd Field Saturday with a 2-1 win over the Davidson College Wildcats in front of a raucous crowd of 717, whom senior forward Chris Thomas credited with helping his team battle back from a goal down to win their first round Southern Conference tournament game. “By 20 minutes left in the second half we had the twelfth man on the field,” Thomas said.

Men's soccer battles Duke to scoreless draw, earns SoCon regular season championship

After 120 minutes of hard-fought soccer, the Elon University men’s soccer team was unable to put the ball in the back of the net, ending the game with a scoreless draw against the defensive-minded Duke University Blue Devils, a strong team from the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Phoenix came into the game riding a three game winning streak, including a win over fellow ACC foe Wake Forest University; the fourth ranked team the Phoenix has beaten this season. This game, however, was a game with a different style of play against a defensive-minded Duke team, a back line that goalkeeper Nathan Dean believes is one of the best in the nation. “They showed today how strong they can be in the back,” Dean said.

Coming off an impressive 4-3 win over the Georgia Southern University Eagles, the Elon University men’s soccer team lost another high scoring affair to the College of Charleston Cougars 3-2 Tuesday night at Rudd Field. Thomas penalty kick helps Elon upset No. 21 Furman in overtime

It took 91 minutes and 45 seconds of soccer, but the Elon University men’s soccer team was able to beat the 21st ranked Furman University Paladins on senior forward Chris Thomas’ penalty kick less than two minutes into overtime. The win was the third over a nationally ranked team for the Phoenix, who move to 2-0 in Southern Conference play after last weekend’s 2-0 win over Davidson College. The game went back and forth, with several quality scoring chances in each half for each team.
