In May 2013, Elon University President Leo Lambert and Athletic Director Dave Blank announced Elon would transition to the Colonial Athletic Association starting before the 2014-2015 academic year.  If Elon had been a member of the CAA this year, below is how the Phoenix would have compared to the rest of the conference. Elon Men's Soccer The Southern Conference Tournament champions three years running, the men’s soccer team will enter the CAA as what is probably the best equipped Elon athletic team from the fall season.

Elon men's soccer wins third-straight SoCon Tournament title in double overtime

It took nearly two overtime sessions, but the Elon University men’s soccer team beat Wofford College 1-0 in the Southern Conference Tournament championship game to win its third-straight conference title and earn its third-straight berth into the NCAA Tournament. Dealing with a driving rain and a boisterous, pro-Wofford crowd in Greenville, S.C., the Phoenix and Terriers played a hard-fought, tightly contested game that saw both sides have their fair share of chances.

Elon men's soccer wins thriller on penalty kicks in SoCon quarterfinals

Elon University men’s soccer head coach Darren Powell could barely watch. As senior defenseman Nick Butterly walked toward the penalty spot, Powell paced up and down the sideline muttering encouragement as his bench players stood a few feet away, arms around eachother’s shoulders. “I just wanted to be part of the action,” Powell said.

Elon comes from behind, clinches No. 2 seed in SoCon tournament

The Elon University men’s soccer team concluded its regular season with a 4-3 win over the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in a wildly entertaining, back-and-forth game at Rudd field. The Phoenix faced two separate two-goal deficits, including being down 3-1 with 30 minutes remaining in the game.
