After falling one victory shy of taking home the conference championship last season, Elon University’s baseball team is moving forward and making another run at the conference championship in 2020. 

Elon baseball swept by Indiana State in weekend series

Elon University baseball (6-5) lost its third straight game to Indiana State University (5-5) Sunday. The Phoenix lost to the Sycamores in the series finale 6-2.

Elon baseball loses second straight to Indiana State University

After being shut out the previous night, Elon University baseball (6-4) put up six runs against Indiana State University (4-5) on Saturday, but it was not enough to beat the Sycamores. Elon lost its third straight game by a final score of 9-6.

Coming off a loss against nationally-ranked East Carolina University on Tuesday, Elon University baseball (6-3) lost its second game in a row to Indiana State University (3-5). The Phoenix was shut out by the Sycamores 3-0.

Baseball falls to UNC Chapel Hill on the road

After completing a three-game sweep of Delaware State University at home on opening weekend, Elon University baseball took on No. 13 ranked University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill at Boshamer Stadium in Chapel Hill on Tuesday. The Phoenix (3-1) fell to the Tar Heels (4-0), with a final score of 7-1.

After a convincing 16-4 victory the previous night, Elon University baseball (2-0) beat Delaware State University (0-2) in game two of the three-game set. The Phoenix victory secures a series win on opening weekend.

Baseball dominates in season opener

The Elon University Phoenix baseball team (1-0) opened up its season with a bang against the Delaware State University Hornets (0-1), winning 16-4 in the first of a three-game series. The Phoenix are coming off of a successful previous season, making it all the way to conference championships before falling to the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

This season continues to get sweeter for sophomore right-hand pitcher Kyle Brnovich. After becoming a semi-finalist for the 2018 Golden Spikes award, the most prestigious award an amateur baseball player can earn, Brnovich has now claimed All-American and All-Regional honors.

For sophomore right hander Kyle Brnovich, strikeouts are everything. He entered his seventh start of the season against the College of Charleston Cougars on Friday, March 30 with 61 Ks, good enough for fifth in Division I Baseball.  

Baseball pulls out win against Marshall, evens weekend series

The Elon University baseball team (2-5) won its second game of the season against the Marshall University Thundercats 3-2 Saturday afternoon at Latham Park.  The game was filled with strong defense as the Phoenix put up zero errors and one double play. Sophomore starting pitcher Kyle Brnovich earned the win, giving up one run after pitching 7.2 innings.
