UPDATE 12:52 – Elon Town police have identified Elon University students Carrigan Bain and Delaney Rubenstein as the two pedestrians hit while crossing the street. Elon student Caitlin Whalen has been identified as the driver. Whalen was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
Both Bain and Rubenstein were treated by Emergency Medical Services and released with minor injuries.
Two pedestrians were hit Thursday morning by a moving vehicle near the corner of East Trollinger Avenue and North Williamson Avenue. Assistant Chief of Police James Perry told Elon News Network the pedestrians are in stable condition and were able to walk after the incident.
