Hurricane Florence continues to track south of Elon.

The National Hurricane Center's 2 p.m. update shows Florence hugging the coast before making landfall near the North and South Carolina border. The storm is then projected to continue inland through South Carolina before tracking north toward western North Carolina.

The latest models show the storm taking a southern track, with the heart of the storm currently projected to miss Elon all together.

However, flooding is still likely to be a major concern with anywhere from 3 to 10 inches of rain expected.
