 UPDATE: Tuesday,8: 30 a.m.

Elon University will be closed on Thursday and Friday because of the upcoming storm. Beginning at 8 a.m. Thursday, all classes, offices, student activities and athletic events will be suspended until further notice.

In an email sent to faculty, staff and students, Jon Dooley, vice president for student life said "Students are strongly encouraged to leave the Elon campus ahead of the storm, and we expect that many will choose to travel home or join with friends to travel to areas outside the path of the hurricane’s impact."

Dooley added that students will need to request to remain in university residence halls and will have access to campus dining services.

All students must inform the university about what they plan to do no later than 5 p.m. Wednesday. The form can be accessed here.

Normal operations are expected to resume Sunday with regular class schedule on Monday.

Dooley said students should check their email for updates on coursework.

Elon will issue updates on the storm via email at 2 p.m. each day.
