On Tuesday, the town of Elon’s Board of Alderman approved a $12,000 settlement with former police officer Cynthia Ring. After being injured in a March 2015 car accident, Ring’s doctor recommended that she return to work on light duty. But Elon's Assistant Police Chief, James Perry, said he did not know of any jobs she could perform under the circumstances. These instances led to her firing from Elon’s police department in October 2015. Even though the settlement has now been paid, the town denies discriminating against Cynthia Ring. We will continue to update the story as we learn more.
