Following a 6-0 win against the No. 19 ranked University at Albany, the Elon University football team moved up in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) rankings.

In the FCS Coaches Poll, Elon moved up to No. 23. Last week, Elon fell two sports shy of making the top 25 list. In addition, the Phoenix jumped up five spots in the STATS FCS poll, moving from No. 23 to No. 18 this week.

Elon joins six other Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) football teams on the STATS FCS list. James Madison University is ranked No. 1, Villanova University comes in at No. 12, University of New Hampshire is No. 14, University of Richmond is ranked No. 14, and New York schools Stony Brook and Albany are No. 23 and No. 24, respectively.

The win against Albany moved Elon’s record to 4-1 on the year. It was the team's fourth-straight win and third-straight win over a ranked opponent.

Head coach Curt Cignetti and his team go for a fifth-straight win when they face the College of William & Mary on Saturday at 2 p.m. during family weekend.
