Tony Caruso, owner of the Elon bar Tony's Pub-N-Subs, has sold the establishment to an out of state couple, he told Elon News Network Friday. He sold it for an undisclosed amount.

"I was made an offer I couldn't refuse," Caruso said.

Caruso said the business, which is located on West Haggard Avenue , will still operate as a bar. Tony's has served the Elon community since opening in January 2015. As of now, he will still handle day-to-day duties.

"I will be running it for a while for them, so most things will stay the same," Caruso said.

The bar originally appeared for sale for $75,000 on a Craigslist ad last summer.

Elon News Network reported that Tony's was closed for a brief stint last December after the North Carolina Department of Revenue seized the bar for owing over $36,000 in unpaid sales tax.

Caruso said that he'll be "looking to hire a couple of bartenders in late August."

This news is the second development this week in Elon's changing bar scene. West End Terrace, another popular Elon restaurant, announced its closure on Thursday. The reasons for West  End's closing are still unknown.
