Elon University classes have been cancelled today, according to an email sent from Dean of Students Smith Jackson.

"There will be slippery spots as the wintery mix continues to fall, so please wear proper footwear and be careful driving and walking," Jackson said in the email.

Despite the cancellation of classes, several offices will remain open, including the Moseley Center, Campus Recreation, Health Services, Belk Library and Dining Services. Danieley Tram biobuses will operate until 8 p.m. tonight while other biobuses will remain closed.

The Root, Subway and Skid's are all closed. Smitty's and Pandora's Pies will close at 8 p.m. Tony's Pubs-N-Subs and Fat Frogg Bar and Grill will operate under normal hours.

The women's basketball game scheduled for tonight will be played as scheduled. Admission will be free.

Because of the expected inclement weather, the men's tennis and Martin Luther King Jr. poetry slam events have been cancelled. The "Tapped Out" and "All's Well That Ends Well" events from the Department of Performing Arts have been cancelled as well.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a heavy snow for the remainder of the day going into Saturday.

The Pendulum will provide updates as more information emerges.
