The Elon University volleyball team lost to the College of Charleston Friday 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-17) in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) action. The loss marks the Phoenix's second to the Cougars after a 3-1 loss Oct. 8. 

Elon competed with the College of Charleston at the beginning of the first set, leading 5-3 on the back of a service ace from sophomore outside hitter Sydney Busa. The Cougars responded, but the teams continued to trade the lead throughout the majority of the set. With the score tied 19-19, the Cougars finished on a 6-1 run to win the set, 25-20. 

The second set saw a decline in offense from the Phoenix, which fell behind early, 10-5. Elon was unable to respond to College of Charleston, falling 25-17.

The Phoenix offense continued to suffer in the third set, as the Cougars took a swift 11-2 lead. Elon pulled within four, 19-15, after a kill by freshman outside hitter Kam Terry and a bad set by College of Charleston, but it was not enough. The Cougars took the set, 25-17, and the match, 3-0. 

Busa led the Phoenix offense in the match with eight kills, five digs and three aces. Terry finished with seven kills, and sophomore setter Sydel Curry tallied 27 assists. 

The loss drops Elon to 6-21 overall this season, with a 2-11 record in the CAA. College of Charleston improves to 15-12 overall with a 7-6 CAA record. Elon's next match is at 7 p.m. Nov. 7, when the Phoenix takes on the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
