We’ve all grown to love using the tiny characters we refer to as “emojis” in our text messages, Instagram captions and Facebook statuses. The downloadable emoji keyboard brings delight to many of those who want to insert a touch of extra emotion into their everyday taps and scrolls.
Sony Pictures has recognized our collective love of emojis and has decided to create a movie based on Apple’s emoji library full of vibrant fruit, laughing faces, common appliances and more. Yes, you may be thinking, “How ridiculous.” But you should know that the largest entertainment companies, Warner Bros and Paramount Pictures included, have been arguing over who would be making this movie.
Don’t be too shocked that the emojis have a special day focused on celebrating them, as well (for anyone who's wondering when it is: July 17). Despite the sad fact that World Emoji Day just passed, mark it on your calendars for next year to honor these wonderful little characters.
