Cordell Wesley Forrest, a 19-year old freshman and member of the football team, was charged Monday with first-degree felony burglary.

The Times-News first reported the charge.

According to incident reports, police responded to a burglary in Danieley O late Thursday night. Fingerprints were gathered on the scene as evidence.

Warrants for his arrest were obtained, and Forrest was arrested and given a $50,000 secured bond.

Forrest, a defensive back from Charlotte, redshirted last year for the Elon University football team. Elon team spokesman Chris Rash said Tuesday that Forrest "has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules."

Forrest was part of head coach Rich Skrosky's first recruiting class at Elon, and received some high praise from Skrosky during last month's spring practice.

"Cordell Forrest has had a really good spring so far," Skrosky told elonphoenix.com on April 13I've been really impressed by him. He's a guy we redshirted last year. He's gotten a little bigger and a little stronger, but, more than anything, the attitude that he had in high school, he has brought this spring. He's really focused, confident, locked in and helping his teammates"
