The Elon University men’s tennis team released its 2015 schedule today, Dec. 9. The Phoenix will look to prove to the Colonial Athletic Association why it was the Southern Conference Champion last year.

Most notably on Elon’s schedule is a rematch of last year’s NCAA Tournament tilt against the University of Tennessee on Jan. 19 in Knoxville, Tenn.

The Phoenix will open its season with seven straight matches away from home. Elon plays the University of South Carolina on Jan. 17 before heading to Tennessee.

Immediately following, the Phoenix will travel to Athens, Ga., for the ITA National Kickoff Tournament. There, Elon will play University of Utah, University of Georgia. and Michigan State University. Before returning home to the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center, the Phoenix heads to Old Dominion University and Virginia Commonwealth University.

Upon its return home, Elon will host 13 straight home matches. The first home match will be against Campbell University on Feb. 11. Other notable opponents during this home stretch include 2014 CAA Champion University of North Carolina at Wilmington, former Southern Conference foes Georgia Southern University and Wofford College along with CAA opponent James Madison University.

Elon also hosts Campbell University, North Carolina A&T State University, Presbyterian College, Winthrop University, George Washington University, Gardner-Webb University and Longwood University.

Following the home stand, the Phoenix will be on the road against College of Charleston, the University of South Carolina Upstate, Davidson College, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and East Carolina University.

There is no CAA regular season for tennis.

Elon returns five of six singles players from last year’s NCAA Tournament team. The CAA Championships begin on April 16 in Williamsburg, Va.
