The Elon University men's basketball team better pack its bags — and not just because of the travel that comes with joining the Colonial Athletic Association.

The Phoenix will play just four home nonconference games during the 2014/2015 season, with two of them coming during the opening weekend of the season. Adam Smith of the Burlington Times-News reported Elon's schedule first. The school released the schedule at 9 a.m. Friday. Most of the dates were already public knowledge because of the opponents announcing their schedules.

Elon opens the season in Alumni Gym on Nov. 14 against Florida Atlantic University, which the Phoenix beat last year. Elon hosts the University of North Carolina at Charlotte on Nov. 16.

After that, Elon hits the road for the Cancun Challenge. The Phoenix plays at Northwestern University Nov. 22 before heading to Cancun, Mexico. Elon will face Morgan State University on Nov. 25 and then either Liberty University or the University of North Florida on Nov. 26 before returning to the U.S. and traveling to Oxford, Ohio to battle Miami University Nov. 30.

Elon returns to action Dec. 7 in Alumni Gym against Central Pennsylvania University, a school that isn't even in the NCAA which Elon destroyed last season. Then, the Phoenix faces a pair of power conference teams on the road in the University of Missouri (Dec. 11) and Duke University (Dec. 15). The Missouri game would have held special meaning if Frank Haith still coached the Tigers, but he left for Tulsa University during the offseason.

The Phoenix concludes nonconference play with trips to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (Dec. 20) and Kennesaw State University (Dec. 22) and a home tilt against Marist College (Dec. 28).

Elon opens its inaugural season of CAA play on the road Dec. 3 against Drexel University and plays its first CAA home game Dec. 8 against the College of William & Mary. The CAA schedule was released on Aug. 28.

Elon will end the regular season with home games against Northeastern University (Feb. 26) and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington (Feb. 28).
