Competing at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate in Aiken, S.C., the Elon University men’s golf team finished 13th out of 18 teams at the event held March 10-11. The Phoenix finished with a final score 898, with combined rounds of 298, 302 and 298. Elon was 58 over par for the tournament.

Senior John Somers was the top individual finisher for the Phoenix, coming in a tie for 31st of 90 players. He shot 222 for the tournament on rounds of 72, 76 and 74.

Junior Will DiIanni finished in a tie for 47th place with a final score of 225. DiIanni had rounds of 75, 76 and 74. Senior Stuart Kaufman finished two strokes behind with a score of 227, good for a tie for 52nd place. Kaufman shot 74, 76 and 77 in his three rounds.

Sophomore Jonathan Dilanni and sophomore Troy Beaver both tied for 63rd with scores of 230. Dilanni shot rounds of 80, 74 and 76 and Beaver shot 77, 79 and 74.

The event was won by Clemson University, which finished with a final combined score of 854, good for 14 over par. Clemson freshman Austin Langdale won the individual portion of the event, finishing at 210, even par for the three-round tournament.

Elon will be back in action Sunday, March 16 and Monday, March 17 when the Phoenix heads to the Seahawk Intercollegiate in Wilmington, N.C.
