The Elon University men’s tennis team has won seven straight after a 7-0 shutout of The Citadel on Sunday, March 23 at the Earle Tennis Center.

The Phoenix took the doubles point to open up the match, taking two out of the three matches.  Senior Cameron Silverman and junior Jordan Kaufman earned a victory at No. 1 doubles winning 8-3.  Juniors Juan Madrid and Stefan Fortmann clinched the doubles point with an easy 8-0 win at No. 3 singles.

Elon took all six singles matches on the day.  Kaufman returned to winning ways after dropping his last match, beating sophomore Oliver Dedding 6-1, 6-4 at No. 4 singles. Sophomore Robert Lindgren also won in straight sets, winning 6-2, 6-2 over junior Peter Bleach at No. 3 singles.

Fortmann, two-time defending Southern Conference Player of the Week, won his sixth straight singles match to clinch the win for the Phoenix.  The South African lost just three games in defeating senior Dillon Berkabile at No. 2 singles 6-2, 6-1.

The Phoenix will return to action on Tuesday, March 25, with another SoCon road contest.  Elon will travel to Statesboro, Ga. to take on Georgia Southern University.  The match is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
