Despite sophomore forward Nicole Dennion scoring her ninth goal of the season Friday, Oct. 11, against Wofford College, the Phoenix and Terriers battled to a 1-1 draw.

The goal brought her one goal behind Furman's Stephanie DeVita for the most in the Southern Conference. The Phoenix take on the Paladins Sunday, Oct. 13.

Elon's lead disappeared in the 37th minute on sophomore midfielder Mary Beth Bleekrode's equalizer on a corner kick and a previous deflection off the crossbar.

Elon finished with 15 shots in the match to Wofford's 12 while the Phoenix put 12 on goal. The Phoenix also held the corner kick advantage, 7-2.

Both teams had chances to take the lead throughout the match, but both goalkeepers made spectacular saves to keep the game knotted at one.

In the 50th minute, McGorty almost gave Elon the lead, but Wofford's Kimberly Cohn made a diving save to keep the game tied.

The Phoenix now stand at 7-2-4, 1-1-2 in the SoCon while Wofford moves to 6-3-2, 2-1-1 in conference.

Furman, who is coming off a 3-0 victory in Greensboro, N.C. against the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, comes to Rudd Field Sunday sitting at 4-0 in the conference and 10-2-1 overall. The Paladins only two losses on the season came in the first three games of the season on the road against Clemson University and the University of Georgia.

In conference, Furman has outscored opponents 14-1, including a 9-0 victory on the road against the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
