With numerous thunderstorms and severe weather coming through the Elon-area Sunday Sept. 1, the Elon University women's soccer team's match against the University of North Carolina at Charlotte was cancelled.

The game was originally pushed back from its 7 p.m. kickoff time because of strong thunderstorms in the area with hopes of the game being played a few hours after the original start time, but more weather came and forced the match to be cancelled.

With the two sides unable to come to an agreement on a makeup date, the game will not be played. Looking for another opponent, the Phoenix have scheduled Greensboro College on Thursday Sept. 5 at 7 p.m.

In four matches against Greensboro, the Phoenix have not found themselves on the losing end once. Most recently, Elon beat Greensboro with a 4-1 victory in 2009. Before that, the Phoenix beat Greensboro 8-0 in 1996.
