No. 3 seed College of Charleston Cougars (23-9) vs. No. 2 seed Elon University Phoenix (21-10)

8:30 p.m. - Southern Conference Tournament Semifinals

College of Charleston

Last: def. No. 6 seed Western Carolina University 78-70 in quarterfinals

Coach: Doug Wojcik (163-101 overall, 1st season at College of Charleston)

Projected Starters: Sr. G Andrew Lawrence - 13.1 ppg, 3.9 apg; So. G Anthony Stitt - 10.9 ppg, 3.3 apg; Jr. F Anthony Thomas - 8.6 ppg, 5.0 rpg; Jr. F Willis Hall - 7.6 ppg, 6.4 rpg; So. F Adjehi Baru - 9.7 ppg, 8.5 rpg

Analysis: With the healthy return of junior forward Trent Wiedeman, the Cougars have won 11 of their last 13 games, including three in a row. Lawrence was a 2012 Olympian for Great Britain and runs the show for College of Charleston, with Baru and Stitt as his major sidekicks. Those three and Anthony Thomas all scored in double-digits against the Catamounts, with Baru dragging down 13 rebounds. The Cougars did turn the ball over 17 times last night against the Catamounts, but shot 57.1 percent from the floor in the second half to outwork a Western Carolina team that attempted 40 shots in the second frame.

Player to Watch: Adjehi Baru. Elon junior forward Lucas Troutman will have a tough test guarding Baru tonight. In the team's prior meeting Dec. 1 (which the Cougars won 56-54), Baru had nine points and eight rebounds. With Troutman on a tear after missing a couple games due to injury, it will be interesting to watch how, one, Troutman handles Baru and two, how Baru handles Troutman.

Elon

Last: def. No. 10 seed University of North Carolina at Greensboro 68-61 in quarterfinals

Coach: Matt Matheny (59-66 overall, 4th season at Elon)

Projected Starters: Fr. G Tanner Samson - 6.9 ppg, 3.2 rpg; Jr. G Jack Isenbarger - 13.6 ppg, 3.3 rpg; Jr. G Sebastian Koch - 9.8 ppg, 4.6 rpg; Jr. F Ryley Beaumont - 11.6 ppg, 7.1 rpg; Jr. F Lucas Troutman - 15.1 ppg, 5.4 rpg

Analysis: Elon eked out a victory over the Spartans Saturday night thanks to some tough defense down the stretch and UNCG missing 27 shots in the second half, eight more than the Phoenix attempted in the frame. Troutman's double-double (14 points, 10 rebounds) and Koch's 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting propelled Elon offensively. The Phoenix fought through 13 turnovers, thanks to 11 assists and 18-of-26 shooting from the free-throw line. Elon has won 13 of its last 16 games.

Player to Watch: Jack Isenbarger/Sr. G Josh Bonney. Isenbarger only played 24 minutes Saturday night while dealing with an illness. He ended up with 11 points but was unable to speak to the media after the game because of his sickness. Bonney had eight points and two assists in 16 minutes of running the point. Whoever plays the point will have to deal with Lawrence, on both offense and defense.
