Junior guard Jack Isenbarger scored 22 points and dished eight assists and freshman guard Tanner Samson scored a career-high 15 points in 38 minutes of action as the Elon University men's basketball team defeated The Citadel 70-66 Saturday afternoon in Charleston, S.C.

With the win, Elon improved to 13-7 overall and 6-2 in the Southern Conference, while the Bulldogs are 4-15 overall, 1-6 in the SoCon.

The Phoenix held a 38-30 lead with the clock winding down in the first half before The Citadel guard Marshall Harris III hit a buzzer-beater three-pointer to cut the lead to 38-33.

In the second half, Elon maintained the lead throughout, but the Bulldogs fought back to within two five minutes into the half and within four with five minutes left, but the lead held up for the Phoenix.

The Phoenix got 14 points and four rebounds from junior forward Lucas Troutman, who scored in double-digits for the 18th straight game.

The Citadel was led by center Mike Groselle's 20 points and nine rebounds, while guard Matt Van Scyoc added 20 points for the Bulldogs.
